Jessica Rimondi uses mixed media and materials to create her very expressive piece of artwork. She uses acrylic, oil, and paper on wooden boards. Using these materials, she is able to express her emotions effectively through her work. As they paints dry slowly she was able to move the paint around as if she was “caressing his face”. She also uses particular colours in her work, including pinks, peaches, grays, white, and black. When we look at her work we can see that she has used paints with strong pigments, this is so that she can have a clear difference between the transparent quality of the drawing side and the opaque quality of the painted side. Using a mixture of flesh tones and neutral colours she depict the human form in a delicate manner. This contrast against the splashes drip that are used as they are messier and draw from the delicate, soft brush strokes. I think her work is a good example of how an artist can carefully choose the most suitable media that will give the most successful outcome.
