Mark Rothko is a main influence for my work. Rothko was determined not to have his work to be defined by art movement or trend. It is considered widely that his artwork does fall in the abstract expressionist period of work, however, his determination not to let his work be defined is what encouraged my practice. Rothko only wished convey emotions in his work which is an aspect of his work that speaks to me. As I work on my own pieces, I want to try to let my emotions control my artistic choices.
