Delaunay's work is full of vibrant color and some contemporary subject matter at the time of creating. As an artist Delaunay was influenced by Neo-Impressionism and the painting technique pointillism. Delaunay created forms using squares of color that resembled a mosaic. He often left small areas of canvas blank to create a sense of space and light. He developed his mosaic-like technique into complex geometric shapes and forms in which objects and surrounding spaces were seen. A piece of Delaunay's work that caught my attention was 'Simultaneous Windows'

I find this piece a perfect representation of how complementary colours work together in an effective way. The piece is tranquil and full of beauty. The elegant placement of lines and colours speak to Delaunay's understanding of art.
