On 4/10/2017 I visited the Laing Gallery in Newcastle with the intent on seeing the Paul Nash exhibit.

I have come to the conclusion that I do not like Paul Nash. In fact i'd rather not have to write about him. I find his work dull and frankly it was a waste of my time. Now I know that may seem harsh but I would rather see work that inspired me to create than to see work that made me unhappy and sad. The only thing i enjoyed from the collection was his illustration style pieces that were in books. Unfortunately, we werent allowed to take photographs of these which was frustrating. I can appreciate his work for what it is and I can understand what other people like about it. However, I did not enjoy how he would change perspectives constantly in his pieces. It felt like he was forces the pieces to be more exciting than they actually were. There was too much to force yourself to understand, despite the artworks being relatively simplistic in nature.

I did however really enjoying one piece that was on display at the gallery. This was 'In The End We All Succumb To The Pull Of The Molten Core' by Glenn Brown. I loved the illusion of the two faces and colours complimented it so well. It was like a breath of fresh air, something new, something intriguing. The lines seemed effortless but also like they were placed with such care and precision. It was beautiful to see and I'll never forget how hooked and drawn in I was when I laid eyes on it.
