This week in the studio I have been focusing on the work of Rothko. I have studied his paintings and I have tried to use his style of paintings and texture on more modern materials. I started by first using inks, watery acrylic, and primed canvas. Using these materials I did a rough version of my take on Rothko suing green, black, and yellow. After this I decided to try a new technique with acrylic and canvas. I used a paint roller to apply the paint to the canvas and then I used a durable plastic wrap and placed this over the paint. Once I did this I rubbed the plastic against the paint and peeled it back. This created a similar texture to what is seen in Rothko's paintings. I have decided not take this any further as I am bored of it.
