Howard Hodgkin Revisited

I have previously looked at Howard Hodgkin during my first year at university. When looking at him then I concentrated on the childlike nature of his paintings and focused on the vibrancy of the colours. This year when I have revisited his work I have focused mainly on the work made between 1970's and 1990's. To be more specific I looked at 'Rain' , a piece made by Hodgkin in 1984-1989. This piece of work is going to be the focus for my essay in ART200. While in Liverpool I was able to see 'Rain' and better understand the size and scale of the painting. I really like Hodgkin use of colour and space to create a piece of work that in a book feel like a miniature but in real life has an expansiveness to it that is indescribable.
