Yesterday we had another Shaun Space Critique and the artists showing were Jessica Avery, Brett Dickson, Krysta Hudspith, Charlotte Stewart, Dara Yasmin Vera Cruz De Melo, and Emma Wallace. I most interested in artwork that Dara and Jess had created.

Dara's work used a limited colour palette yet it was very visually affective and pleasing. She combined some of her favourite colours and focused on the feelings that they gave her. She had created a colour calendar that documented the change in her mood. She used yellow for happiness and black for sadness. She contrasted the black against a white background so that it would stand out the most.

Jess' work used a more vibrant colour palette as she used numerous bold and bright colours. She had painted a portrait of a singer by working from a video still. The choice of image had a great impact and allowed to fully explore the capabilities of colour to create unusual highlights and shadows.
