As well as my work being displayed, Caitlin Daley and Sophie–Anne Micheson also had work on display in the Shaun Space.
During the critique we discussed the different materials that were used in my pieces of work. I explain to everyone how each piece used a different media. I had decided to include a variety of my work in order to show case the different affect that the different media had. Many people thought that the faces were drawn quickly however this is not the case. In fact I zone out and do them quite slowly so that they still look like portraits.
Caitlin displayed two pieces of work that were both small acrylic studies made from a photograph. The pieces were portraits of herself in pool. At first glance the piece look as if the girl is floating in a dream like world made from pure pink. The way that that she has posed herself makes me feel as if she was depressed when she did it. This is because she is shying away from the camera and the viewer, hiding her face from us.
Sophie's work was very different to the work that Caitlin and I had produced. Her work consisted of different sized egg-like objects. She used a variety of materials like wool and felt to connect with the nature element of her work. I feel like her work was very successful in making us feel lke giants invading this tiny world she had created.
