This week I have started to look at portraits instead of doing just abstract art. I have found myself drawn to portraits lately and I think this is because I haven't done them in a long time. I used to create portraits all the time and I was most successful with my realistic portraits. This time round I have tried something different. I have tried to create abstract portraits. I am mainly focusing on the face and a hint of shoulders. I have decided to do the faces using a one line drawing technique. I can either create the portraits quickly or slowly. If I am quick with my drawings then the portraits become more messy and chaotic, whereas if I take my time with the portraits then I can plan where I am going to take the line next.

I first started by doing the faces on old paintings that hadn't worked. I used a mix of acrylic markers and sharpie pens to draw the faces. Once I had the drawing done I then went back into the piece with different acrylic colours to help pick out the features of faces. After this I decided that I want to do the drawings on plain backgrounds to not distract away from the actual drawings.
